University of Central Lancashire (UCLan Cyprus)

The University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) is located in Larnaka district, in the area of Pyla. Its first academic year commenced on 2 October 2012, offering premium Higher Education within the Cyprus educational framework and culture. It is a private University officially registered in the Registry of Private Universities of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. All programmes of study are evaluated and approved by the Evaluation Committee of Private Universities (ECPU) of Cyprus and meet the standards required by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the UK. UCLan Cyprus therefore offers a world class British University experience through high quality education in Cyprus, leading to degrees jointly awarded by both UCLan UK and UCLan Cyprus. This arrangement facilitates the mobility of students between complementary courses offered at UCLan Cyprus and UCLan in the UK, so that students can choose to study at either campus during their course without disruption of their studies, and gain an international experience during their education.

Programmes Offered

UCLan Cyprus offers undergraduate programmes in Business (Accounting and Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management and Business Administration,), in Law and in the sciences (Mathematics, Computing and Psychology). At postgraduate level, it offers Master of Business Administration, MSc Business Management, MSc Computing and Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) with Applied Linguistics.

Research

The University is establishing a number of international Research Centres and programmes (based on UCLan’s 30 world-class rated research centres) and engages with local and international communities and industries. Our academic faculty will make a vital contribution to disseminate research and global knowledge, helping to shape the world’s future beyond academic life.

International Accreditation/Recognition

UCLan seeks professional recognition of its programmes to maximise the value of its awards in enhancing employability of its graduates. For example, BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance is recognised by the key UK accounting professional bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, 9 exemptions), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, 9 exemptions) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW, 7 exemptions), to provide professional exemptions for those who wish to follow careers in accounting. The Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) at the UCLan Cyprus is the only one in Cyprus that has been accredited by the Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) of England and Wales. The JASB represents the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board (respectively the regulatory bodies for solicitors and barristers in England and Wales). UCLan is ranked amongst the Top 200 Elite Universities of the World for the subject Law in the ‘QS World Rankings 2012’. The BSc (Hons) Mathematics degree is accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), and the same course at UCLan is listed in the 5th position according to the ‘Guardian League Table 2012’. The University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) Cyprus Campus has won the sought-after title of ‘Most InAVative Education Facility’ at the prestigious Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) InAVation Awards.
